Happy birthday Mary Cassatt



Here's one of her more famous works.  I never tire of looking at it and had the privilege of seeing this painting in person.  Mme. Cassatt had a way with color, design and composition.  She had an enviable ease with color.  She also held her own with the "big boys" of Impressionism; most notedly,  Degas. 

She was once quoted as saying,  “Women should be someone and not something”.  Brilliant.  Truly one of my favorite artists.
