tcp1658- "Tenacity" - necklace

Found this medal and was pleased to see it was made of sterling.  Most of the medals I've encountered are pewter.  The front of the medal reads:
"NY Evening Newsboys 1912 Athletic Meet".

It was awarded for the Tug of War event.  I wonder about the recipient of this medal.  This young man rose each morning and walked his route, despite weather conditions.  Skipping the route because he was tired, or not feeling well wasn't an option.  Isn't it fitting that someone with that type of determination would win in Tug of War?  Tenacity, Determination, Resolve.  Qualities that surely served him well throughout his life...
